THE AUTHOR
Shanti
Sosienski has been involved with the sports industry as an editor, producer
and writer for the last 12 years. She got her start in the business
as a snowboard instructor when she was 20. After getting a journalism
degree from the University of Oregon, she did a brief stint at Men’s
Journal and Newsweek in New York City, then ended up in San Diego, CA
as an editor at TransWorld Snowboarding Business and Snowboard Life.
From there she moved on to work at a number of action sports .com ventures
including SnowboardingOnline.com and Bluetorch.com. She also worked
on Bluetorch TV, which aired on Fox Sports Net Rush Hour five days a
week for an hour.
Shanti
has been one of the most active journalists out there continuously supporting
athletic girls over the years. She’s managed to get some of her
favorite athletes on the cover of FHM, in the special “Goddess”
issue of Outside magazine, in Men’s Fitness, Men’s Journal
and Muscle&Fitness. She also writes for Stuff, Self, MF Hers, National
Geographic Adventure, Her Sports and Women’s Adventure. When not
promoting rowdy chicks she can be found snowboarding in Idaho, surfing
in Costa Rica or mountain biking in Colorado. “Women Who Run”
is her first book and she’s currently working on her second book.
